Set in a beautiful peaceful courtyard, The Hunt House is part of a magnificently restored thatched, listed, hunting lodge and covered stables, steeped in history. Parts of which date back to the 1500’s. Having been Polo Pony Stables over 100 years ago for the Comte De Madre in the early 1900 and then a Michelin star restaurant the suites are set in a peaceful, private courtyard set in the grounds of the Hunting Lodge. No areas in any of the rooms are shared. All are finished and furnished to a high standard. the lodge and adjacent car park date back nearly 500 years. In the past 200 years it was used as a deer yard for young deer who were brought in from the hunting grounds until they were strong enough to be returned and run back with the herd.

The remains of the round walled area can still be seen today as, agile as they are, a deer is easily able to jump a straight wall but as their eyes are situated on the sides of their heads a curved wall makes it impossible to judge height and distance.  I am sure there is always an exception to the rule.

Our amazing rooms are either part of old converted stable blocks within the listed property bounds.

Or they are purpose-built Shepherds Huts with all the comforts of one of our rooms and sit in the upper garden area and are all self-contained with their own front doors and ensuite.

Our mission is to make this a comfortable, relaxing environment set apart from, a sometimes sterile, hotel room.

We have tried to harness the history of the place with all the personal touches we think you will need.

As such we are focused on continual improvement for our rooms and we welcome any suggestion you may have or even may have seen that you think would be nice to have when staying with us.

There is always constant work needed to upkeep a house of this period. The middle section of The Hunt House has been dated as early as 1500’s Since moving in we are keen to upkeep the gardens, designed to replicate an English Country garden, making improvements where needed. It is a labour of love.

We hope you enjoy your stay in the Hunt House Quarters, please let us know if there is anything you need or if we can do anything to make your stay more enjoyable.

We realise that sometimes things can break, Bulbs can blow etc.. If you encounter any problems please feel free to let us know. We can generally sort most problems in moments.

Please enjoy a relaxing stay with us.
